At TatteredDelicates, these artisan-crafted items represent creativity and labor of love! My Whimsical Doily Bags are designed and crafted from scratch by me from start to finish. Bags are built in layers with the base layer being the body of the bag. It is the foundation that everything is sewn onto. It could be vintage linen, a patchwork of velvets, or any kind of soft fabric. Thinner fabrics are reinforced for strength. For the next layer, I add things like soft delicate laces and dripping vintage doilies together with beaded appliques and streams of satin and lace ribbons. The final layer is where I do all the hand sewing of beads, buttons, ribbon roses, trinkets and any embellishment that calls out to me. This is where a little artistic creation comes into play to get everything to harmonize. For my more heavily embellished specialty bags, I add all the bells and whistles it can hold. They do require a bit more time to create. I hope you can appreciate the passion poured into them.
My Shabby Lacy Clothing began as an idea by previous customers. They conveyed their desire for clothing that matched the beauty of their whimsical doily bags. Since my shop is also eco-friendly, I refashion plain clothes by giving them romantic new styles. Some clothes have softly draped laces trimming the sleeves and hemlines. Others have layers of delicate laces, vintage crocheted doilies, and a collage of scattered trims and embellishments. For a final feminine touch, I usually sew on charming little embellishments like ribbon roses and pearl beads. Most garments are loose fitting and made of natural fibers for their breathability and comfort. The aim of TatteredDelicates is to make you look beautiful, stylish, and comfortable.
